So, I have to start this post with the cliche comments: "Boy time flies." "I can't believe Jackson is already two!"Alright, now that is out of the way...HOLY CRAP Jackson is already two.
Last night Emily and I had the chance to reflect on the past years and talk about how much has changed in our lives. The first few months of having a child, I spent thinking about my life before kids, now it IS my life and I can't imagine my life without kids. We had Harrison's dedication ceremony at the Crossing on Sunday morning: and the message was about what a blessing kids are and how it really does take a community to raise a child. It was nice to take 10 minutes and just reflect and be thankful for two healthy boys. Lord knows there are times at 1:00 am that we are up with a crying Harrison that we are not Thankful at that moment.
Anywho: back to the birthday boy. It has been a while since I rambled on here, so I will get you caught up. Jackson is quite a bit behind on his speech, in fact, as of 2 weeks ago, was not saying a word. Intelligence wise: He is off the charts (he gets that from his Momma). I just don't think he wants to talk and he will talk when he is damn well ready. BUT, we don't want to be naive parents and think our son is the greatest kid ever and since he is soooo smart and good looking, he will just talk on his own (as true as that may be). Jackson has started with a speech therapist and so far has had 3 sessions and is already making big strides. He will say Momma, Dadda, Ball, Pa Pa. Up. We are very happy with the progress. He will also started at SCC's day care/preschool 3 days a week as soon as there is an opening, which I think will be amazing for his development to be around kids his own age that much.
One of the greatest joys of being a parent are those moments, and I have a fear these moments will be fewer and fewer as they get older. But those moments when they are almost asleep, clutching his blue bear, a smile on his face. He looks so innocent, so full of wonder and life. Just a matter of time before he is corrupted. ha. The times in the morning when he is not quite awake and we get to watch Curious George together, if only for 10 minutes, it makes my day.
Harrison keeps growing, rolling over, reaching for stuff and he is cuter and cuter every day. Not much more to report from a 5 month old. Healthy poops...
Having a 2 year old and a 5 month old has proven to by WAYYYY harder than we had anticipated. In the long run we will be very happy they are this close, but right now...well, frankly there are times that it sucks. ha. What was great about the dedication is when the Pastor mentioned about having a support system to say, "This will pass." It is nice to have the love and support of parents, including our own parents, who have gone through this before and know what we are going through.
We are very lucky, both boys are in bed by 8:00. Jackson will grab his bear and dog and head up the stairs around 7:15 or 7:30, just puts him self to bed. I wish I had some grand parenting idea that makes a 2 year old do this, but I don't: Maybe it is the water.
Emily and I are relishing the quiet time we have now, just the 2 of us. Sometimes we will sit in silence, or stare blankly at the TV (sometimes not even on).
Life is grand. Business is rocking out, we are barely keeping up with what is coming at us. I started this blog at 8:30am and it is now 3:45pm. So I will keep it short. Thanks for following along.
