Staging the house

Right before Emily moved in around Decemeber, we decided to paint the halway, our room and the bathoom. What started as a team project, turned into me staying up 4 nights in a row until it was finished: Needless to say, put a lot of time into it, and I hate painting.
We had a lady come over to get our house ready to sell.Staging a house takes some time, but over all, I think it will help sell the house faster. The problem is, Lisa wants us to paint the entire house a neutral color, and out of pure laziness, I don't want to. She also wants new carpet down, which is money I will never see again. We have decided to do just a few small things. Putting down a new floor in the kitchen and entry way, landscaping, new light fixtures, and basic things that I have been putting off for 3 years. So, as soon as we get the house to the point that we really like it, we are going to sell it.
A house that is on the market is way different than a house we live in. We are taking out couches to make rooms look bigger, taking pictures off the wall so people can picture themselves in the house, not us. The house will feel very un-personal and hotel-like, but I guess if that is what sells.

The move has brought about new stress in the house, and over all, we are handling it well. We have halted the new house search in KC for now. We are going to rent for a few months in KC and look for a house when we move there. It was taking a toll on us looking at houses, trying to get ours ready to sell, waiting to hear stuff from our investors, Emily trying to find a job, and all at the same time of working and trying to maintain our sainty.
A moment of joy to share with everyone. We found out about 3 weeks ago that we will be moving to Kansas City, it is just the timing that is being worked out. Emily started sending out applications and getting certified to teach in Kansas right away, and a week ago she already got a response from Shawnee Mission schools and has an interview Monday, March 3. I am very proud of her!

Hello.

Following in my brother, Moksha Gren's , blogging ways, I figured I would jump on the ship and blog as well. I have been blogging in the myspace world, but for those of you who have read them, know that they are not family friendly. There will be some people that will not be named by their real name. If you read this and see your name mentioned and would not like it to be, please let me know.

This blog will hopefully get better with time, and pictures will be posted and the whole nine yards, but for now, deal with it.

As most people know, Emily and I will be moving to Kansas City in the very near future. We are stuck in limbo right now to find out a time line and the wait is killing us. We are in the process of getting our house ready to sell, dealing with the business side of the move, Emily has been spending most of her free time applying for jobs in the Overland Park area and getting certified to teach in Kansas: all at the same time of us keeping our sanity with each other. So far so good. :-) We have booked a trip to the Dominican Republic, which is what keeps us going, knowing that a vacation is close.

The goal is to be up there by June, if not sooner. Our corporate office sold, which means my brother will be taking over Planet Cash, which means I too will be unemployed. I don't want to rush out and get a full time job since we are leaving in a few months, but I do need a part time job just so I don't pull my hair out. Hopefully my friend Doug is getting me a job at a local golf course. So, I can get paid and feed my golf addiction that seems to be growing stronger every day.

Hopefully soon I can announce what the new business venture is, but for now, keep on guessing. Thanks for reading!
